Do Australians need a visa for Indonesia?
THE SHORT ANSWER
Yes — Australians need a visa for Indonesia, but it's a Visa on Arrival (VOA) you apply for at the airport. Cost: A$50. Valid for 30 days. Extendable.

How it actually works
Apply for VOA at the airport on arrival. Cost is 500,000 IDR (~A$50) cash or card. Form is short. Alternatively, apply for e-VOA online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id before travel — same price, skips the queue.
Watch for
- •VOA must be paid in cash or with card at the airport — bring exact IDR (500,000) or use card.
- •Bali airport VOA queue can be 60-90 min on peak arrival waves. The e-VOA option lets you skip it.
- •Indonesia requires proof of onward travel — airlines check at boarding. A flight out of any Indonesian airport works (incl. domestic to outside Indonesia later).
Staying longer
Yes — once, for another 30 days, at any local immigration office. Costs another ~A$50. Apply 7+ days before your initial 30 expire.
